The more you find out about yourself and your family, the more complicated it gets. But you better figure it out soon, or there will be no more family, and no safe place to hide from those who are looking for blood...yours.

Betsy Streeter's first novel is a journey through space and time, with a sprawling cast of characters who are as adept at witty banter as they are at saving mankind from extinction at the hands of the evil Tromindox. But there's more...there's also the love of a mom and dad for each other and for their kids, both of whom have their own special needs and talents, and both of whom will need to find a way to channel those talents to save the family and humanity itself. It all adds up to a wild ride, with so many twists and turns along the way that you won't know whom to root for until the very end.

Very fun read. Don't wait for the movie...by then it may be too late!

Well written, creative, and a real page turner for young adults and older.
This series must be read in order. This is the first book. The second book is Silver Shard.

Helen and Henry Silverwood have grown up on the run... Not that they know as much. All they know is that they only live somewhere for a short period of time before picking up and moving again. Their mother works odd hours and they are almost always on their own. Where is their dad really? What is their mother afraid of? Should they be afraid? What isn't she telling them? Will they ever be a real family again?

***This series is suitable for middle grade to adult readers who enjoy SciFi time travel action adventures with plenty of mystery, intrigue, suspense and monsters bent on eating the humans all gone )
I got hooked on Betsy Streeter stuff when I picked up the Neptune Road serial on Smashwords.

I got Silverwood as soon as it came out and wasn't disappointed.

I continue to look forward the the never-ending Neptune Road series and will certainly pick up the next Silverwood when it comes out next year.
I found my way out of my Spring "loop" and found the perfect first book of Summer. The mom/kid relationships are very relatable, although I'm not an alien bounty hunter. My 11-year-old can't wait to read the sci-fi book I couldn't put down. Can't wait for the next adventure!
SIlverwood is a thrilling new world with a complex young heroine. The time and location shifts kept me guessing. Betsy Streeter's sometimes jump-cut narrative style was a great complement to the storyline. The villains, who have a way of growing on you (literally), were wonderfully ambiguous they were wryly funny and even likable at times. I hope the two worlds can somehow find a future together, perhaps in the next book. Silverwood is great for adult reading, and I look forward to sharing it with my pre-teen daughter.
Silverwood is an absolutely original work and a page turner in every respect. Its plotline (no spoilers in this review) and characterizations are unlike anything else I have read, and its ability to provide a moral and ethical framework for the "evil" Trumindox is quite thought provoking. What I like best about the book, however, is the strong female characters and the depiction of them as self-determining in the face of insurmountable challenges. These characters are problem-solving hackers and offer terrific role models for teenage readers.
Silverwood was a great week-end reading adventure. It is very fast-paced, and just complicated enough to make you want to uncover the many secrets. Members of the Silverwood family are always having to question and readjust their perceptions. I think Ms. Streeter has learned a thing or two from Philip K. Dick.

Silverwood has great characters, human and not. I like that some of the story is told from the point of view of the Tromindox, the alien threat. But my favorite passages are those related by Kate Silverwood, the bounty hunter Mom, as she dodges bullets and wonders if her two weirdly gifted kids have done their homework.

I am looking forward to the next book in the Silverwood series, wondering what (besides Tromindox-killing blood and supernormal engineering abilities) makes teen-age Helen Silverwood so special and what X-Files-like political skullduggery the Tromindox are up to in cahoots with human government insiders. Also -- will Helen get to go to the prom, in any dimension?
